Winter Festival Returns (posted December 10, 2008)

For the 4th year in a row, the Prince Albert Winter Festival has asked Larry to produce the Country Gospel Show for the Winter Festival, an honor which Larry has gratefully accepted. This year's show will focus on traditional Country Gospel music-the kind that folks grew up with, and find comfort in the familiarity of the tunes, and will feature top notch local performers and musicians. There will be 2 performances on February 15, starting at 2:30 and 7:00, with the concerts held at the Prince Albert Union Center on 8th Street East. This is one of the major events of the Prince Albert Winter Festival, that is most certainly worth coming out to see!

Larry is officially back in the studio! (posted December 10, 2008)

Larry Krause will have a new Christmas single called "Timberline Christmas" (written by Larry) out to better radio stations before Christmas this year. Be listening for that about December 17th or so.

He has also laid down the initial tracks for his next CD, which he is looking forward to releasing early next spring. This CD includes songs that Larry has incorporated in his shows over the last several years, including his western style original compositions, and a few Canadian songs that folks will fondly remember. He is excited about this project, and believes it will be his best recording effort yet, including songs that he always wanted to record.

New Location For Larry's CD (posted May 25/08)

Getting hold of one of Larry's compact discs in Prince Albert just got a whole lot easier! All you  have to do is stop in at the Prince Albert Tourism booth, in the log cabin on the south side of PA, right on highway 2 (2nd Avenue West), and check out the display of local artists CD's and pick one up.

A big thanks to the great folks there, for both having the CD's in their gift shop, as well as their promoting local music events.

Larry's Still The Pres! (posted May 25/08)

At the Annual General Meeting of the Prince Albert Country Music Association (held on May 20), it was decided that Larry should continue on as President of the chapter for another term.  P.A.C.M.A. has just been the host of a very successful S.C.M.A. Awards weekend, and is looking forward to continuing it's mandate of promoting Country Music and the people that perform it in the Prince Albert area.  At this time Larry would like to thank all of the volunteers that worked so hard to make the weekend a musical event to remember. The extra effort that you all put in did not go un-noticed!
Special thanks to John Quinn, who chaired the Awards Committee, and kept everyone pointed in the right direction for success.

Them Cowboys Is Headin' Downtown (posted April 24/08)

What is believed to be a first for Prince Albert will be happening this October 11. Larry is going to be joined by BJ Smith and Ol' Ugly, two of Alberta's finest and most popular Cowboy entertainers, for an evening that will be unforgettable. The insights of Western life, brought out in rhyme by BJ Smith, combined with the tales that may wander a bit into the tall region by Ol' Ugly, together with the Cowboy songs that tell of how the west was, as performed by Larry, will make for an event that you won't want to miss.

Larry's givin' back! (posted April 15/08)

The abnormally high water table in the Rosthern area in the last year has caused structural problems with the basement of the Eigenheim Mennonite Church. This is the church that Larry grew up going to, was Baptized and was married in. As every building needs a solid foundation, these structural problems have eliminated use of the basement, and make the continued use of the Church viable on a short term basis only. After reviewing many options, it has been determined that the most practical route to maintain a Church out in that rural area, was to construct a new one.

As Larry is still a member of that vibrant congregation, he wanted to find a way to contribute towards the building of the new Church. And what better way to raise funds to build a Church than to have a Country Gospel Concert?! The concert will be held May 4, starting at 3pm in the Elementary School Auditorium in Rosthern. Admission is a free will offering at the door. Larry is looking forward to heading home to perform this show, with all of its proceeds going toward the building fund.

The song has already been selected, but that will be under wraps until the performance. The show will be made up of performances by last year's SCMA award winners, along with special guest Julian Austin.

Larry Krause and Timberline confirmed for Dauphin's Countryfest (posted March 31/08)

What started out as a phone call, asking if Larry was interested in performing at Dauphin's Countryfest, has turned into confirmation that Larry Krause and Timberline will be performing at Manitoba's largest country music jamboree. He will be kicking off the music on Sunday, June 29 with his kind of Country Gospel, and doing some of his inspirational original songs, as well.

This is not only the largest jamboree that Larry has performed at, but the first of what he hopes will be many performance trips into Manitoba! He's looking forward to seeing the folks out there, and introducing them to his music.

It's Award Season! (posted Feb.2/08)

The nominees for the Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards were released this week, with Larry receiving a nomination for Male Vocalist of the Year! The nomination process is one where other musicians and people involved in the Saskatchewan Country Music industry submit the names of artists who they believe are deserving of the award, with the names most frequently submitted being selected as nominees. Being recognized in this fashion is a validation of the efforts that Larry has made in getting the traditional style of Country Music that he is known for, out to audiences that are appreciative of that kind of Country.

In addition to this honor, Larry is pleased to announce that members of Timberline have also been recognized with nominations for Awards in their respective areas of musical expertise. Back from the C.C.M.A. awards weekend! (posted September 13, 2007)

Well, folks, I made it through my first ever Canadian Country Music week, including taking in as many of the informational seminars and entertainment venues as the schedule would allow. Without a doubt, the highlight of the weekend was performing at the CCMA Country Gospel show, and being on the same stage with professional performers and musicians that came from all over Canada and the States to be on that show.

And having performers like Paul Brandt, Garry Fjellgard and Valdy in the audience added to the excitement of the event. While that was a definite highlight, there were lots of close seconds, including taking in performances by Garry and Prairie Oyster, comparing notes with other performers, making contact with promoters and producers from all over Canada and into the States, and of course, being there to watch the incredible production of the Awards Show itself. I would like to take a moment to thank the guys from Timberline-Garry, George and Dave for making the trip to Regina to back me up-they always do very well on stage, and this show was no exception.

I would also like to thank the CCMA for giving me the opportunity to have this level of national exposure-it is greatly appreciated!

Greetings from Larry (posted April 25, 2007)

Well folks, the dust has settled on another incredibly successful S.C.M.A. awards weekend, and now that things are back to as normal as they get, I would like to take a bit of time to thank a lot of people, for a bunch of  reasons. Here we go...

-The Saskatoon Committee, that was responsible for organizing and getting the weekend off the ground, did an amazing job!. We saw some new things done that turned out well, and all of the events they organized had folks talking. Thank you all for your hard work...It really paid off!

-To the Showcase Committee for allowing me to perform at the Gospel Brunch. It was a good turnout, and I really appreciated being able to contribute to that popular event. Thank you!

-And a big thank you to all of the S.C.M.A. members that supported me by voting for "The Gate is Open". Receiving the award for Country Gospel Album of the Year was, without a doubt, a highlight of my musical career, and is a moment that I will never forget.

Also, thanks to all of the people who took time to take in the various events of the weekend. Your attendance was most certainly noticed and very much appreciated.

It's Award Season! (posted January 20, 2007)

The nominations for the Saskatchewan Country Music Association have been announced, and Larry has been honoured with four nominations. They are for the following categories:

Congratulations as well to the members of Timberline that received nominations for awards:

These nominations are most certainly well deserved, with both Garry and George showing the abilities and the professionalism to definitely be "All Stars".  Larry says, “I am privileged and honoured to have them in my band”.

Larry would like to thank the members of the S.C.M.A. for their support and recognition, resulting in these nominations. The nomination of a Gospel album and a Gospel song in traditionally Country categories shows just how music can cross barriers unapologetically, and keep folks entertained.

The Saskatchewan Country Music Association will be holding their awards weekend in Saskatoon this year April 13 - 15. Mark that weekend on your calendar for an incredible music experience.   For more information about the weekend, including venues, tickets and entertainers, check out the S.C.M.A. on the Links page
