"Christopher Lake, SK singer / songwriter Larry Krause is obviously a devotee of the music of Ian Tyson. This debut collection of tunes from Krause features a solid rendition of one of Tyson’s classics – Fifty Years Ago – and Michael Burton’s Night Rider’s Lament which has long been part of Tyson’s repertoire. The remaining 8 songs are all penned by Larry Krause, and in many instances both the lyrics and the vocal delivery are strikingly close to the Ian Tyson ‘sound’. Neat stuff.

This Pink Ribbon (Song for Breast Cancer)
(release date November 13, 2005)

"This Pink Ribbon" was a song that Larry was commissioned to write by Carol McKnight, on behalf of Prairie Women On Snowmobiles (PWOS).  The song is a ballad that reflects on the organization, and the dedication of the women who are apart of it. They were looking for a theme song to play at their rendezvous while they were having their survivor processions.  They liked the song, and decided to make it into a single that could be sold as a fundraiser for the group.   Initial sales of the CD, of which all proceeds go towards Breast Cancer research, have been very brisk in the short time it has been available. The official release date of the single was November 13, 2005 at a PWOS breakfast fundraiser in Paddockwood. The CD is available at PWOS functions, or from it's members.
Larry says, "I am very pleased at the response to the song, both by the PWOS, as well as the public whose interest in the cd is translating into a good fundraising tool for a cause that I am proud to support."

Footprints in the moss (The ballad of the Montreal Lake trail)
(released April 2006)

In the spring of 2005, Larry was approached by John Dinius, who represented a group of local folks in the Paddockwood area interested in local history, about the prospect of writing a ballad.  The focus of the song would be the Montreal Lake Trail, which was a very well travelled year round route from the Paddockwood area to the southern tip of Montreal Lake, providing a merchant connection from Prince Albert to the north. The end result of this project is the song "Footprints in the Moss".

It was first performed in public July 30, 2005, at the unveiling of a cairn that commemorates the people that used the trail and the contribution they made over the years. Larry is pleased to make this one song CD available to the public.  It was performed live by Larry Krause and Timberline and recorded at the Shellbrook Elks theatre by Spectrum Sound of Prince Albert.

"The Gate Is Open" is a country gospel collection featuring four of his own gospel songs and some tasty renditions of country gospel favorites, all done with traditional, acoustic arrangements.
Larry Krause shows some versatility with his own gospel creations. The album's title track, "The Gate Is Open", is truly inspirational in content and driven home with his powerful, pure country voice. "Tree In The Forest" is more of an Oldtime Country Religious offering, while "Do You Know" is done in Gospel group harmony style.
The album also features some interesting versions of standard gospel material. "Mansion Over The Hilltop" and "Precious Jesus, Hold My Hand" will be familiar to all; while "Til The Answer Comes" and "I Won't Take Less Than Your Love" both come out of the Paul Overstreet songbook, the latter a #1 country hit in 1987 for the one-time recording trio of Tanya Tucker, Paul Davis & Paul Overstreet. There's also a bluegrass/gospel selection here with "You Go To Your Church", a tune first popularized by bluegrass/folk artist Bill Clifton.
Larry Krause has openly been a disciple of the music of Ian Tyson...he sounds not unlike the Canadian Hall of Famer vocally, and he often performs his songs. That tradition continues here with a version of the Tyson song "Lord Lead Me Home", originally from Ian Tyson's classic "Ol’ Eon" album. Krause does the song justice, and makes it one of the key tracks on the album.
"The Gate Is Open" was produced by Larry Krause with Dave Sinclair and recorded at Riverbed Studios in St. Louis, Saskatchewan."

"Shortest Day of the Year" - Re Release

Larry has re released the popular "Shortest Day Of the Year". Larrry wrote this song a couple of years ago, and it's had good response from audiences across Western Canada. While the song is loosly autobiographical, it is a scenario that is played out in ranch houses. Winter hits, and the work doesn't quit, it just gets a little tougher. The song was recorded in 2008 at Riverbend Sound in St. Louis, produced by Larry Krause and Dave Sinclair. Background instrumentals by Garry Larson, Dave Sinclair and George Pistun, with Larry Krause doing back up vocals.

Larry Delaney Reviews Northern Range from the "Country Music News"

Singer/Songwriter Larry Krause from Christopher Lake , SK., is an avowed disciple of the music of Canadian Country Hall of Farmer, Ian Tyson... he sounds not all that unlike Tyson, he writes songs about the same thing that Tyson has been writing about since entering his Cowboyography era, and he traditionally includes a Tyson song in his own albums. This time around it's a tasty version of of the Ian Tyson ballad My Own Heart's Delight. Larry Krause's own compositions on Northern Range , include tunes like Cowboy's Wish, Year's Flyin' By, Fallin', Footprints in the Moss, Shortest Day of the Year and Nothing Left to Do; all done in a western folklore style, and all leaving you wishing there were more to listen to. Krause also shows a rich musical heritage. In addition to the Ian Tyson tune, he also covers a Stattler Brothers tune, There Is You, taken from their 1983 Lp “Today”, and he ventures into Canadian classic territory covering a Wilf Ingersoll rodeo tune Silver Buckles (a top 30 hit in 1979 for Ingersoll); and also brings back fond memories with a solid version of the fun tune Herschel's Hemi Half Ton, a top 40 hit for Jimmy Arthur Ordge back in 1976.

Northern Range was recorded at Riverbend Sound Studio in St. Louis , SK. and features session work by an assembly of veteran pickers out of the Saskatchewan country talent pool.

"Northern Range" is now available at Hartbeat Music in Tisdale, Tramps in Prince Albert, Parables, and McNally Robinson in Saskatoon.

Also available at all of Larry's many performances.
