SCMA New Category "Roots Artist of the Year" - April 21
At the 2012 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards, held April 21 in Prince Albert, a new catagory for an award was introduced. It was for "Roots Artist of the Year", with the definition being an individual or group that performs and writes music that reflect the style of traditional Country and Western music. The first recipient of this award was Larry Krause. His Western/Roots music and traditional performing style, along with performing schedule across Western Canada, were no doubt considerations in the balloting that took place by his peers in the SCMA. Upon recieving the Awards, Larry's comments were "It is good to see acknoledgement of a style of music that is still very much in demand and still very popular, in this award. I am very humbled and thankful that the music I write and perform, was considered to be worthy of this honnor, and would like to thank all of the Folks that support both myself and the Western/Roots music I will continue to play".
